A COMMUNITY turned out to celebrate a Redhill playgroup's 30th birthday in style.
Holy Trinity Under 5s mother and toddler group celebrated three decades in the community with a party attended by 150 people. Those who started the weekly Tuesday morning session in 1984 also came along, and joined children, parents, grandparents and childminders to toast its success.
Barbara Beauchamp, one of the group's eight helpers who has been involved in the group for six years, said it was a "marvellous" event.
"It was an absolutely brilliant day. It was predicted to rain but we saw the sun and we thought, 'just go for it', so we had the party outside."
The event started with a church service before a bouncy castle, ball pit and birthday cake entertained youngsters at the Carlton Road venue.
There are 300 children on the playgroup's books, with up to 90 toddlers attending each week.
