POLICE have confirmed that the man who died after being hit by a train at Earlswood rail station yesterday was from Coulsdon.
Paramedics from South East Coast Ambulance service attended, but the 49-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene.
A spokesperson for Southern said the incident, which happened at around 2pm on Tuesday, led to the closure of at least two lines
A British Transport Police (BTP) spokesman said: "Our officers and colleagues from Surrey Police attended the incident, which was reported to BTP at 2.07pm and is currently being treated as non-suspicious.
"The man's family have been informed and a file is being prepared for the coroner."
