CAMPAIGNERS are "frustrated" after Surrey County Council announced it would delay a planning decision on an incinerator.
Residents campaigning against plans to build a "gasification plant" on land near Redhill Road in Cobham, delivered a 2,300 signature petition to County Hall in Kingston on Saturday ahead of a planned meeting on Wednesday.
But the No Elmbridge Waste Incinerator group have now been told the meeting may not happen until next year, forcing them to cancel coaches to take supporters to the meeting.
Campaigner Kirsten Johnson, who lives near the proposed site and has two children with severe allergies, said she was surprised.
"It's extremely frustrating," she said. "I can't remember how many times this is that they've done this. Obviously our reaction is that we are very surprised and we don't see a reason for the delay."
The group has been told the council hopes to release the meeting agenda on December 21.
A Surrey County Council spokesman said: "We have removed this application from the December 12 committee agenda because we are awaiting further information from the applicant."
