A CHILDREN'S play area in Hurst Green has been boosted by a £50,000 donation.

The funding from developers Taylor Wimpey, which is building 172 homes at Meridian Square, off Holland Road, was part of the planning permission agreement with Tandridge District Council

The cash will provide a new skate park at nearby Mill Lane Recreation Ground.

The previous skate park had to be removed earlier this year after being damaged by vandals.

Joanna Webb, senior land and planning manager for Taylor Wimpey South East, said: "Contributions towards facilities for children was always going to form part of the new Meridian Square development.

"Having heard that the old play area had to be removed, we are more than happy to help deliver these facilities ahead of schedule. We hope it will be well used by both the new residents of Meridian Square and families already living in the area."
