CHAIRMAN John Park is confident Redhill have postponed their last home game barring "six foot of snow" but admits more than two months without a match at Kiln Brow have put a strain on the club's finances.
The Lobsters' last home game was an FA Trophy defeat to Brentwood Town on October 21.
Since then, the club have been forced to postpone league game after league game and even switch some cup games to the away ground in order to avoid a fixtures pile-up due to a small waterlogged area in front of the far goal.
Redhill were due to host Ramsgate on Saturday and then South Park on Tuesday night, but both matches have been postponed, while this Saturday's game against Three Bridges has been switched to the Crawley side's Jubilee Field ground.
And Park admits even the experts were stumped by the Lobsters' swampy patch, but is confident Kiln Brow will be up to standard by their next scheduled home game – against local rivals Merstham on New Year's Day.
"We have never had a problem with that area of the pitch before," the chairman explained. "We have had experts in and even they didn't know what to do about it.
"We were delayed fixing the problem because we asked for some help from the football authorities and were advised not to touch it in the meantime.
"We have left the old drains the council put in before we bought the ground but we added a new drain through the problem area and that has worked fantastically well.
"It still doesn't look pretty, there isn't much grass there, but given a few more days with the tarpaulin over it and it should be fine. We're getting on top of it."
However, by the time the Lobsters finally take to the turf at Kiln Brow it will be nearly ten weeks without a game.
"Financially, it is hard on the club because you are never going to get that money back," Park said. "You can rearrange the game but then you have home game after home game back-to-back and it's a lot to ask people to go to all of those.
"For instance, on Saturday the game was meant to be sponsored by Redhill Baptist Church and there was going to be lots of things going on like carols so we were very sad that was off.
"Not to mention it would have probably been one of our biggest gates of the season.
"So, it's not a very happy time for us financially but we will get through it.
"With the Three Bridges game now switched to their ground, hopefully South Park was the last postponement.
"We're confident the Merstham game will go ahead, unless we have had six foot of snow by then."
