MORE than £1,000 was raised in Tadworth for a local charity.
Shoppers were greeted by carol singers from Chinthurst School outside One Stop, in Cross Road, last Thursday.
The Christmas event, organised by the shop, raised £1,042 for The Children's Trust, based in Tadworth Court in the village.
Shop manager Dilan Panadura said: "It was great to see the support local businesses and residents gave to the event.
"We chose The Children's Trust because they are local to us and they are a great charity."
The shop organised a raffle and businesses in the village donated eight prizes, including a £200 Castaways travel voucher, a luxury hamper and a wonderful Christmas floral arrangement.
"It was nice to see people feeling festive and the carol singing was an amazing way to draw people's attention to the fundraiser," added Mr Panadura.
