HAYDEN BIRD is expecting Merstham to continue their good form tomorrow when promotion rivals Folkestone Invicta visit the Moatside. Bird's men beat Conference South side Sutton United on Tuesday night, but if anything, the Merstham boss believes Saturday's game could prove even more important. Merstham have not lost a Ryman League game since October 1, and manager Bird expects that to continue against the east Kent side.

"Folkestone are fourth at the moment, two points behind us, and in many ways it is a bigger game than the win over Sutton," Bird said.

"The Surrey Senior Cup is a competition that we have identified as one we want to win but the league is our priority.

"If we beat Folkestone then it will create a little gap between third and fourth.

"They will provide strong opposition. They are a side who came close to promotion last season and I went to the play-off final and I think they deserved to beat Leatherhead.

"But we are unbeaten since October, longer at home, and so like all home games, it's one I would expect us to win. It might be the rehearsal for a play-off fixture."
