STEVE BAKER has moved to strengthen his Chipstead squad after losing players to Conference North and South sides.

Kenny Oreguna, who scored in the Chips' 2-2 draw against Tooting & Mitcham United on Saturday, and Josh Gallagher have both left the club to play in a higher league, but manager Baker has also overseen a few new arrivals.

"I got a call from Kenny's agent this week saying he was going to Worcester, but we have heard since it might have been Gloucester," Baker said. "Either way, it's not something we are especially surprised at. We knew when we got him in that he wanted to play at a higher level so it was a matter of playing him while we had him. He did well for us and now we wish him all the best.

"And Josh Gallagher has left for Staines Town. But then we have Dan Llacer back from a long injury and Ben Dyett back from a lot of suspensions, so those are almost like new signings.

"Liam Flanagan has come from Walton Casuals and has played a couple of games for us now at left-back.

"And I've just signed Joe Robson on loan from Kingstonian. I just wanted to bulk up the squad in a few areas and Joe is a very technically gifted midfielder who will fit in well with how we play.

"I'm in the process of signing a defender as well, but I can't say much about that until it's done."

Chipstead came from behind twice to draw with Tooting and Baker was delighted with the character his side showed, and admits they will need plenty of the same if they are to beat Three Bridges on Saturday.

"We know it's a tough battle against Three Bridges," Baker said. "Last year they turned us over at their place, winning 4-3 after we had been 3-1 up and then at the start of this season they did it again, ending our winning run.

"They are a side with a lot of character and it's going to be a physical game but one we are looking forward to.

"They aren't that far behind us in the table. Our ambition at the start of the season was to get as close to the play-offs as we could. We aren't that far off fifth, but the table is so tight that we aren't too far off the side near the bottom either, so we need to start picking up wins."
