A PLANNING application has been lodged to convert a former church to a domestic dwelling.
St Silvan's Church in Oxted attracted huge interest when it was put up for sale last year.
A 19th century former mission room, it was deconsecrated as a church in 2013.
Advertising it as a potential "charming cottage-style home in a rural setting", estate agents Robert Leech were inundated by potential buyers.
Branch manager James Clear said last week: "A sale is currently through, but contracts have not been exchanged yet."
The former church has a tiled roof, a small wooden bell chamber and a stained glass window.
It was marketed as a two-storey, three-bedroom property "in an idyllic wooded setting", but no sale price was set.
Brian Atkins, from the scheme's Reigate-based planning agents W.S. Atkins, said: "The development will improve the character and appearance of the site."
