A "KIND and gentle" former Tandridge district councillor has died at the age of 74 after a battle with cancer.
Robert Bisset served as Conservative member for Dormansland and Felcourt from 2003 to 2011.
Fellow councillor and friend Michael Sydney described him as a "kind-hearted and community-minded man" who ran the community Speedwatch scheme in Dormansland.
He told the Mirror: "I have never met such a nice man. He was always thinking of others and could be seen at St John's Church for morning prayers most days. Even when he stepped down from the district council, he was still working hard for the village."
Mr Bisset was a retired chartered accountant who lived in West Street, Dormansland. He stepped down as a councillor after two family members were diagnosed with cancer.
He spent his last two days at St Catherine's Hospice in Crawley.
He died on December 9, and Dormansland parish councillor Maureen Young said St John's Church was packed for his funeral on Friday, December 14.
She added: "He was a very kind and gentle man, and he was very popular in the village. I know he will be hugely missed."
Mr Bisset leaves his wife, two children and four grandchildren.
