A HEADMASTER has promised not to "rest on his laurels" despite a glowing report from school inspectors.

Feltonfleet School in Cobham has received the highest grade of "excellent", following a visit from the Independent Schools Inspectorate.

The report states "pupils' achievement is excellent both in their academic subjects and in their extra-curricular activities" and teaching and the quality of leadership and management are "excellent".

Headmaster Alastair Morrison said: "We are delighted with the inspection report.

"This is great news and a wonderful endorsement of all that is being done so very well in our special school.

"It is not, however, for one minute a reason for us to rest on our laurels and we will continue to seek to improve in every way possible in our education of, and care for, our pupils."

The report makes two recommendations for further improvement which the school has already acted on, to ensure marking is consistent with the school policy and flow of information on pupils' progress to parents improves.
