A SKATE park, climbing wall, trim trail or outdoor gym: the choice is yours.

A consultation on what to include in a £1.4 million overhaul of Redhill's Memorial Park is running for the next two weeks.

Reigate and Banstead Borough Council agreed to splash the cash to rejuvenate the appearance and reputation of the London Road public space in November last year.

Now it is asking for residents' help to formulate the final designs of a new children's play area and a new sports zone.

Natalie Bramhall, executive member for property and regeneration, said: "We want to improve Memorial Park and its facilities to create a popular and contemporary urban park that offers the type of facilities that residents and people who work and shop in Redhill want.

"The children's play area will move to a more central location, next to the new cafe, and be expanded and improved with new equipment.

"Plans for the sports zone include renovating the tennis courts and MUGA (Multi-Use Games Area) and introducing new activities for young people such as a new skate park, climbing wall and outdoor exercise equipment."

The consultation suggests three possible designs for the new enlarged children's play area.

It also proposes five potential features of the sport zone – a skate park (costing £70,000), trim trail (£10,000), parkour or climbing wall (£20,000 per element), table tennis (£3,000) and an outdoor gym (£15,000 for six pieces of equipment).

The facelift will also include a cafe, tiered mounds that could be used as seating for events, new plantings and a new-look park entrance.

An exhibition displaying the designs is on show at the Harlequin Theatre until February 26. Detailed plans will then be drawn up in late spring. Work is expected to start this autumn and be completed in summer next year.

The designs can also be viewed online here Leaflets and questionnaires are available at the Harlequin exhibition or by calling 01737 276000.

The closing date for comments is February 28.
