A MAN was punched repeatedly in the head after trying to help his attacker call a cab in Bletchingley.
As he fell to the ground the man stole his red Nissan Micra, which police later found damaged and abandoned in Catlin gardens, Godstone.
Surrey Police is appealing for witnesses after the incident outside the Post Office, High Street, on February 19, at about 8pm.
The driver had been sitting in his parked car on High Street when the man approached him asking for a lift to Godstone.

The driver refused but left his car to get the offender details of a taxi company. He was punched in the head three times on returning to his car.

Investigating officer Detective Constable Colin Snell from Reigate CID, said it had been a terrifying ordeal.

Officers believe the stolen car was driven to Godstone, up Godstone Hill, past the Shell Petrol Station and then back down Godstone Hill before being abandoned.
The car appeared to have a flat tyre for part of the journey and sparks were seen to come off the vehicle due to the rim running along the road.
The offender is white, around 5ft 10ins tall with short ginger hair. He was wearing jeans and a light coloured jumper.
Anyone who witnessed the robbery, the stolen car being driven by the offender, or the offender abandon it in Godstone, should call Surrey Police on 101 quoting reference TD/13/843 or the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
