POLICE are appealing for information after nearly £4,000 worth of damage was caused to a car parked in Smallfield.

The incident took place between 7.30pm and 8.40pm while the vehicle, a black BMW, was parked in the car park on Plough Road.

Investigating officer Detective Constable Portia Andrews from Reigate CID, said: "Criminal damage is a mindless act which can cause deep upset and great financial loss to the victim and therefore I would appeal to anyone who was in this area around the time the offence took place to contact us with information as we need to catch those responsible."

The damage caused to the vehicle included key marks to each panel with the initials N F and an offensive word etched into the bonnet. A dent was also caused in the front passenger door and the windscreen cracked.

Local officers from the Tandridge Safer Neighbourhood Team have been assisting detectives with their investigation by carrying out a number of enquiries in the area.

Anyone who has information on this offence is urged to contact Surrey Police on 101 quoting reference TD/13/901 or the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
