OWNERS of expensive bikes are being urged to keep them locked up by police after a spate of thefts in Reigate.
Thieves broke into two garages in Somers Close between February 22 and 23 and stole four bikes including a men's black mountain bike with silver writing; a men's black and white Trek maintain bike; a men's black Trek mountain bike; and a men's blue Trek racing bike.
Police say they don't know if the thefts are linked.
PC Dan Kite said: "We are making a number of enquiries in the local area in a bid to locate the stolen bikes and return them to their rightful owners and I would urge anyone with information on these thefts to contact us.
"At this stage in the investigation we are keeping an open mind to whether the two thefts are linked and if the bikes were stolen to order but anyone who has a valuable cycle should take the necessary steps to keep it secure. I would ask anyone who has a friend or family member who has suddenly got hold of a bike matching the description of those stolen to contact officers if they have suspicions."
Call Surrey Police on 101 quoting reference RB/13/1449 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 with information.
