SIXTH formers at St Bede's took a long walk to school, to raise cash for charity. Groups of five or six pupils set off from Brighton Pier on Sunday and walked all the way to the Carlton Road, Redhill, school in their pyjamas. The groups were raising money for the school's Raise and Give week, which is supporting a number of charities. But one group decided to break away from the pack and begin their walk at Wembley Stadium. Stefano Sileo, 17, who was a member of the breakaway team, said: "it was really really good. "We wanted to sort of do our own thing and we all love football so we throught we would start at the home of English football." Dressed in an array of pyjamas and onesies the group set off from the base of the statue of England's World Cup winning captain Bobby Moore. They began their 27-mile trek in the at around 3pm. arriving in Redhill in the early hours of the morning, where they were greeted by parents with a banner. Stefano said the trek was easier than they thought, but they were hampered by a late-night downpour. He said: "As we walked down London Road it actually started raining hailstones, so we had to put coats on for that bit. "We did get some funny looks in our pyjamas." The Wembley group raised around £500 through sponsorship from friends, families and neighbours. The final total for all the walks will not be known until all the money is collected in a couple of weeks.
