AN OPTICIANS welcomed a guide dog and her owner into the store for a fundraising day to support the Guide Dogs charity.
The event, held at Specsavers in Dorking on March 9, raised more than £500 through sales of homemade cakes and a raffle with Dorking resident Tony Pitchford and his guide dog Holly dropping by to lend a hand for a couple of hours.
Mr Pitchford said he had enjoyed the day, adding: "The money raised will make such a difference to a brilliant charity, and myself in particular – giving me increased independence, and all the happiness that a living with a dog brings."
Branch manager Paula Tidy said: "It was fantastic to welcome Tony and his gorgeous dog, Holly, into the store. Tony is a Dorking resident so it's brilliant to support a charity that is so close to home."
