A man's body has been found in Royal Earlswood Park, Earlswood.
At around 5.20 pm this afternoon, police were summoned to the scene, close to East Surrey Hospital, after a member of the public reported concern for the safety of an unknown man.
South East Coast Ambulance staff were called but declared the man dead shortly after 5.30pm.
Police have currently cordoned off a section of the footpath leading from the road through the park while investigations are carried out.
Police vans and a mobile HQ line the roadside, but nearby residents have been told there is nothing to fear.
Surrey Police spokesperson Lindsey Pullan said: "Enquiries are in their early stages and further information will be released when available."
Surrey Police were unable to confirm at this stage whether the death is being treated as suspicious.
Officers at the scene told the Mirror they do not expect to have any clearer ideas before the morning.
