LEE NEWMAN struck a late winner for the second time in the space of 48 hours to help Merstham to another victory in the Ryman League Division One South.
The striker, who netted the only goal of the game against Chipstead on Saturday, scored from the penalty spot in injury time today (Monday) to help the Moatsiders to a 2-1 win at home against Tooting & Mitcham.
Chipstead, meanwhile, slipped to a 2-1 defeat at title chasing Dulwich Hamlet, despite taking a first half lead through Joe Nwoko.
Leatherhead also slipped to defeat in the same division today, losing 1-0 at home to lowly Corinthian-Casuals.
Moatside was not the only place to witness late drama today though, with Lingfield's Craig Pitterson scoring in the second minute of injury time to seal a 2-1 victory over local rivals Redhill in the Sussex County League Division One.
The Reds had taken the lead through Jimmy Davies on 22 minutes, before Nicky Forster equalised for the hosts three minutes later.
Redhill had the better chances after that, with Chris Gregson and Gavin Gordon both hitting the post, but Pitterson was to have the last laugh with a stunning free kick late on to seal victory for the hosts.
In the same division, Dorking Wanderers lost out 2-1 at home to Horsham YMCA.
There was another local derby in the Combined Counties League Premier Division, with South Park triumphing 2-1 at the home of their local rivals Horley Town.
Meanwhile, struggling Dorking produced a great performance to hold league leaders Egham Town to a 0-0 draw at Meadowbank
In the Kent Premier League, Whyteleafe lost 3-2 to Erith Town at Church Road.
