LEATHERHEAD resident Michael Caine has abandoned his plans to retire from Hollywood, insisting he will keep making movies until directors no longer want him.
The Oscar winner fuelled speculation about his retirement plans after he hinted he was planning to turn his back on the film business when he reaches the age of 80.
The veteran actor marked the milestone last month but he has now reversed his previous decision and vowed to continue acting, a national newspaper has reported.
"I haven't retired... I think if you retire you're sort of saying, 'I've given up. I'm going to sit here and what am I going to do now? I'll tell you what - I'm going to die'," he said.
"You keep making movies if you're fit enough, until no script comes, or the part's too small, or the money isn't worth getting out of bed for - then you're retired. But that hasn't happened yet."
