A BOMB scare in Smallfield turned out to be a false alarm.
Police were called to Etherington's Yard, Norman's Corner, Smallfield - at the junction of Chapel Road and Norman's Road this morning.
A heavy police presence was reported in the area, but the incident turned out to be a false alarm.
According to staff at R & S Skips, which is based on the site, a "hoax bomb" was spotted in a skip which was collected from East Grinstead this morning.
Police were called and evacuated the yard shortly after 9am and work was suspended for more than two hours while police investigated.
