MOLE Valley's top policeman has paid tribute to the dedication of his officers following a dramatic drop in crime across the district in the last year.
This morning (Tuesday), Inspector Andy Rundle revealed that the number of crimes reported in Mole Valley between April 1, 2012, and March 31, 2013, had reduced by 13.3 per cent.
While overall crime dropped by an impressive 20 per cent in Dorking and 29.5 per cent in Leatherhead, the most dramatic fall in the district was in Ashtead which recorded a 36 per cent fall.
During the period, a total of 411 arrests were made, giving Mole Valley the highest arrest rate per officer of Surrey's police districts.
Insp Rundle said he was particularly pleased with the significant reduction in cases of antisocial behaviour as his team had paid particular attention to that area.
He told the Advertiser: "The Mole Valley team has performed to a very high standard. It's a very proactive team which makes a large number of arrests every year.
"I'm very pleased with what we have achieved in the last year – this is a strong set of performance figures."
