ARMED burglars posing as police officers threatened occupants with a screwdriver before making off with several thousand pounds in cash on Monday.
Four men wearing black clothing, wigs and make-up around their eyes disturbed the two occupants of the property on Woodlands Road, Bookham, around 8.20pm.
One of the men threatened the occupants, a man in his 60s and a man in his 80s, with a screwdriver, before they left the scene in a black car. Neither victim was injured during the incident.
Detectives from CID, the dog unit and uniformed officers attended the scene and carried out a search for the offenders.
Investigating officer Detective Constable Heather Francis said: "This is was a terrifying ordeal for the two victims and a thorough investigation is now being carried out by officers to find those responsible for this appalling crime.
"We believe the offenders will have checked out the area prior to committing the crime and I would appeal to anyone who has seen anything suspicious in the area around the time of the offence or in the days and weeks prior to it being committed to contact Surrey Police with information."
Mole Valley Neighbourhood Inspector Andy Rundle, said: "Incidents of this nature are extremely rare in Mole Valley and local officers will be assisting detectives with the investigation.
"I would ask anyone who has concerns surrounding this incident to speak with officers on patrol or contact the Safer Neighbourhood Team on 101."
Neighbourhood officers will be carrying our enquiries in the local area over the coming days to assist with the investigation.
