MORE than 40 dedicated people and organisations were acknowledged for their contribution at a special ceremony on Saturday.
The Mayor's Award for Service to the Community
aims to recognise and encourage positive work across Guildford.
The nominations come from residents, and
were read out by Mayor of Guildford, Jennifer Jordan, at a special ceremony at the County Club, which funded the event.
She said: "It is wonderful to read so many
accounts of the good deeds, community spirit and selfless commitment that people all over our borough are demonstrating at a local level. I am delighted
to be able to recognise the tremendous contribution that they have made within their communities."

Guests at the ceremony also enjoyed a demonstration
of Hungarian dance, performed by children of the Hungarian Cultural Association.
Chairman of the association, Maria Chambers and volunteer, both received awards. Nomination forms for the 2014 awards will be available in January.
