TYRRELLS Wood Golf Club welcomed a new captain earlier this month with a ceremonial drive-in.
David Weller, who boasts a handicap of nine, took his first shot as captain on April 7 after a sweepstake was taken amongst members at the Leatherhead club to guess how far he would hit it.
The 215-yard shot heralded the start of the 68-year-old's leadership, and raised £125 for the Rainbow Trust.
After the drive, the 1st Hook Scout and Guide Band, who were also celebrating their 75th anniversary, entertained club members on the terrace in the sunshine.
Mr Weller has been a member of the club for 37 years and his father, Cecil, was also a member.
