St. Mary's Church was well filled for the presentation given my Ann and Dave Wright with Liam Harvey about their recent pilgrimage to the Holy Land.
During their tour they were taken to most of the known sites relating to the life of Christ including what are believed to be the sites of his birth in Bethlehem, much of his childhood, the Sermon on the Mount, Lake Galilee, the Temple where he overthrew the money changers' tables, the Garden of Eden, Jerusalem, the hill at Golgotha where he was crucified and the Holy Sepulchre.
Of course, it is not absolutely certain that the locations of all these sites are known precisely but most are believed to be fairly accurate. Interestingly, nearly all of these sites now have wonderful churches in which pilgrims are able to pray, some of them being particularly beautiful buildings.
They were also shown places of more secular interest such as the hideous wall between Israel and Palestine from where they were able to see the conditions within the state of Palestine and they also visited the West Wall of Jerusalem, otherwise known as the Wailing Wall where many Jews were seen at prayer.
