As reported in this column a few weeks ago, pupils at Marden Lodge School have been getting to grips with litter in the area surrounding their school
As a result of their letters and pressure on the authorities, two extra litter bins have been placed, one outside the school and one by the shops opposite.Network rail have now agreed to clear up the banks by the rail lines and will spend two days this week doing it.Scott Coughlan from Tandridge Council said 'What a fantastic experience for the children. As I said previously, it was so inspiring to read all their letters and whilst I knew TDC would do everything in our power to improve the area, I was unsure about the other agencies involved. I am so pleased that Network Rail have taken notice and I have instructed them to do a thorough job. Send the children my congratulations and tell them how proud I am of what they have achieved.
