A FORMER Surrey man who handed himself in to Chinese authorities will appear at Redhill Magistrates Court today (May 25) charged in connection with a number of historic sexual offences.
Neil Robinson, 47, from Staines-upon-Thames, arrived at Heathrow Airport yesterday (May 24), where he was arrested by Surrey Police officers.
Mr Robinson was taken to Staines Police Station and later charged with six charges of unlawful sexual intercourse with a girl under 13, one charge of taking an indecent photograph/ pseudo-photograph of a child, and one charge of encouraging prostitution of girl under 16.
The alleged offences took place between 1998 and 2002.
Detective Inspector Becky Molyneux, from the Staines Public Protection Unit,said: "Mr Robinson's return to the UK is the result of weeks of hard work from a number of agencies and co-operation from the Chinese authorities; to whom we are extremely grateful.
"I hope it demonstrates Surrey Police's determination to find those suspected of offences, no matter where they may be, and ensure they are put before the courts."
