A seven-year-old boy is seriously ill in hospital after being knocked down by a tipper truck on the A217 in Woodhatch, Reigate, last night.
The crash happened shortly before 5pm, when the child was hit by a 32-tonne yellow Volvo tipper vehicle at the juntion of Woodhatch Road and Dovers Green Road.
Two ambulances were scrambled to the scene. The boy was rushed to St George's Hospital in Tooting with serious head and pelvic injuries.
PC Michael Gallon from Godstone Roads Policing Unit said: "Anyone who witnessed the collision or who saw children on or around the crossing shortly before the collision should contact the Surrey Police Collision Investigation Unit on 101 quoting reference P13207794."
