A 19-year-old motorcyclist was airflifted to hospital after suffering multiple fractures in a crash on the A25.
The teenager, from Dorking, broke his arm, his legs and his pelvis when his black Kawasaki motorbike crashed with a 4x4, before bursting into flames.
The crash happened at 12.13pm on Friday, at the junction with Upper Street, near Shere.
The road was closed for more than three hours while the emergency services and forensic collision investigators dealt with the scene.
The motorcyclist was airlifted to King's College Hospital in London. He is in a stable condition.
The 26-year-old woman from Guildford who was driving the car, a dark blue Mercedes ML350, was not hurt.
Police have appealed for anyone who witnessed the collision, or the manner of driving of either vehicle prior to it, to contact police on 101, quoting reference P13217490.
