Horley in Bloom results announced

THE ANNUAL Horley in Bloom competition results have been announced. The competition, which this year introduced a photographic section, has grown every year since its inception 19 years ago. Mike George, Horley in Bloom chairman, said: "We were delighted to see more newcomers entering the competition this year and our judges were once again extremely impressed with the high quality of the entries." Results Residential Front Garden 1st: Peggy Clarke 2nd: June Ward Highly Commended: Samantha Pizzie Residential Back Garden 1st : Sue Sherwin Joint 2nd Catherine Robertson & June Ward Highly Commended: David & Ena Sharratt Cottage Garden 1st: June Ward 2nd: Ken Greaves Flats 1st: John Byrne 2nd: John Hay Hanging Basket / Planter 1st: Gary Thomas 2nd: The Farmhouse Highly Commended: Brian Hawes Schools 1st: Horley Infant School 2nd: Charlwood Village Infant School Highly Commended: Langshott Infant School Community 1st: Horley Bowling Club 2nd: Douglas House Commercial 1st: Jai Ho (Coppingham Arms) 2nd: The King's Head Highly Commended: Horley & District Constitutional Club Guest House / B&B 1st: Springwood Guest House 2nd: Rosemead Guest House Best Newcomer 1st: Catherine Robertson Joint Highly Commended: Horley Bowling Club & Springwood Guest House The winner of the photographic section has not yet been announced. A presentation evening will be held on Friday 27 September at Regent House, Albert Road, when the awards will be presented.
