PLANNERS have blocked a bid for deliveries to be made at Dorking's new Lidl supermarket on Sundays and bank holidays.
The company already has permission for trucks to take goods to the Vincent Lane store between 7.30am and 8pm from Monday to Saturday.
Lidl applied to Mole Valley District Council to allow this to take place during the same hours on public holidays and between 8am and 1pm on Sundays.
But 29 letters were submitted by residents of neighbouring streets opposed to the plan.
As a result, planning officers made the decision to refuse the application on Friday (August 2).
The decision notice read: "The proposed extended delivery times would be detrimental to the amenities of neighbouring residents by way of noise disturbance associated with delivery vehicles visiting the site on Sundays and bank and public holidays."
