TWO youths suspected of being in possession of a gun evaded police despite a three hour search for them.
Surrey Police carried out a search at land off Ray Lane in Lingfield at around 7pm on Sunday, August 4, following reports from members of the public that two youths had been seen in fields carrying a suspected firearm.
A number of units, including the police helicopter, carried out a thorough search of the surrounding area, but despite extensive local enquiries no individuals were located matching the descriptions given by members of the public.
There were no further reported sightings of the youths or any reported offences and officers ceased searching the area shortly before 10pm.
