FIREFIGHTERS were called to Betchworth telephone exchange when fire alarms went off - but found they were caused by a nearby bonfire.
Smoke from the nearby fire got into the air intake at the Reigate Road exchange and triggered the alarm.
Firefighters from Reigate Fire Station arrived on the scene at around 8.45pm last night.
The crew turned off the alarm and put out the fire in the nearby field.
