THE rise and rise of Reigate music sensation Disclosure has taken another leap forward after the brothers were nominated for the prestigious Mercury Prize. Howard and Guy Lawrence's debut album Settle went to number one in June. Then earlier this month they were nominated for a MOBO award. And last night it was announced Settle is among 12 albums in the running for the 2013 Barclaycard Mercury Prize, alongside offerings from David Bowie and the Arctic Monkeys. Both brothers, who grew up in Reigate, studied music at Reigate College. Howard, 19, only left the college last summer, with an A* in music tech. Guy, 22, left two years before. Music teacher Graham Jenkins, who taught both brothers said: "It's one of the proudest moments of my teaching career to say that Howard and Guy Lawrence came through Reigate College's music department. We all knew at the time that they were very special – their work was always very innovative and exciting. They were always pushing the boundaries in all their project and college work whilst at Reigate. To know that they've become successful in a career linked to their course at Reigate College is something we are all extremely proud of." The Mercury awards show takes place on October 30.
