A BANK has apologised to the residents of Ashtead after making an embarrassing mistake on a large billboard at the village's station.
Commuters were left playing spot the difference this morning when faced with the advert, which was meant to be a simple "Hello" but came with a pretty major problem –Ashtead has been misspelt "Ashstead".
Spokesperson for TSB Claire Miller said: "We apologise to the local residents for the incorrect spelling on the poster at Ashtead train station. We are working to replace the poster as soon as possible."
Meanwhile Ashtead residents were less than impressed with the error.
Steph Brown tweeted: "Bit embarrassing for TSB... "
Meanwhile Victoria Reynolds posted: "Local banking advertising gone wrong #spellingfail."
Charlotte Meadows tweeted: "How ridiculous! Wonder how much they paid for that ad #clearlydidntproofreadit"
Lindsey Collumbell posted: "Oh dear #fail"
And Katie Swindells tweeted: "You woulda thought they'd check how to spell Ashtead before plastering up all over the station..."
Meanwhile Kevin Marsden posted: "Hello TSB welcome to Ashtead, I know it must be difficult to remember all those new names… #spellingfail"
