DOMINIC CORNWELL says Effingham & Leatherhead will relish the role of underdogs this weekend.

The Eagles welcome London Two South West favourites Guildford to Browns Lane on Saturday, looking to bounce back from an opening day defeat at Old Alleynians.

And the Eagles' director of rugby believes it will be a good test for his side, who will welcome back a number of players that missed the 27-18 defeat on Saturday.

He said: "We were missing six or seven guys on Saturday and although the guys who stepped up did a good job, that is a large number to be missing, particularly for the first game.

"To my mind we still could and should have won the game, but we had a few injuries and made a few too many mistakes and they capitalised on them.

"But there were plenty of positives to take from the game and we move on to play Guildford, who will be right up there this season.

"They have got a great squad and they are probably the team to beat this year, so we will definitely start as underdogs.

"But we will have a few guys back and this league is very difficult to judge. Just because they are stronger than us on paper, they still have to come and win the game and we will give it our best shot."
