A WARD at East Surrey Hospital has been closed to visitors to contain the spread of winter vomiting bug Norovirus.
A recorded message on the hospital's main telephone line states that visitors are currently banned from Tandridge Ward while patients with the bug are treated.
The virus causes vomiting and diarrhoea and is highly contagious.
The message states: "This decision (to close the ward to visitors) has not been taken lightly but is necessary to protect our patients."
Visiting times on all other wards remain between 2pm and 8pm.
