A CRAWLEY man has pleaded guilty to robbing a post office in Bletchingley on New Year's Eve.
Daniel Brady, 28, of Ifield Road in Crawley admitted two counts of robbery and one of attempted robbery when he appeared at Croydon Crown Court on Friday, May 9.
One of the charges related to a robbery at Bletchingley Post Office which occurred at around 6.15am on Tuesday, December 31. A man in his 30s and a woman in her 50s were threatened with what was believed to be a firearm and had their hands restrained.
Money, lottery scratch cards and cigarettes were stolen during the offence.
A gas powered BB gun was found near the scene by officers a short time later and is believed to be the weapon used in the offence.
The case was featured on BBC Crimewatch in January.
Brady was arrested and charged in February for the Bletchingley offence.
Senior Investigating Officer Detective Inspector Antony Archibald, said: "At the time the offence was broadcast on BBC Crimewatch I was hopeful the show would bring us the result we wanted and it didn't fail to deliver this.
"I believe using both the local and national media to appeal for information demonstrates our commitment in solving crime in East Surrey and sends out a clear message to criminals that we will do all we can to bring them to justice.
"I would like to thank the press and all those who helped with providing information on Brady and I hope the fact he remains behind bars will go some way to allow the victims to move on with their lives."
Brady is due to be sentenced at the same court on Friday, July 11.
