THOUSANDS of people attended the Caterham Street Party on Sunday to enjoy some community fun in the sun.
The annual event, which forms part of the Caterham Festival, took place in High Street and Townend from 1 to 6pm.
Adults and children enjoyed music, stalls, food, a tea dance and a foam party in the glorious sunshine.
Andy Parr, chairman of the Caterham Festival committee, said: "The foam was the best idea I think we have ever had for a street party. The kids and adults were just laughing and could not get enough of it.
"It was a brilliant day, it's very hard to put an estimate on numbers but I think at least four to five thousand.
"There were groups of 20 leaving at three o'clock but then 30 more would arrive."
The street party was sponsored by Caterham Round Table and many volunteers from Team Caterham helped run the event.
The very popular Rico the Clown with his circus skills also returned this year, as did the free jelly and ice cream.
Mr Parr added: "I want to say a big thank you to all who helped out and made the day go so smoothly. It's one of the best community events, I think all roads should have street parties."
More than 100 events are planned as part of the Caterham Festival. Visit www.caterhamfest ival. org for the full programme.
