Chipstead Football Club's most famous son, Steve Sidwell will remain in the Premier League after joining Stoke City on a two-year deal.
The 31-year-old midfielder, who started his career at High Road, was released by relegated Fulham at the end of the season.
The former Arsenal player's brother Lee also played for Chipstead as well as Lingfield and Whyteleafe.
"Steve was much in demand and we are delighted to have won the race to secure his signature," said Stoke chief executive Tony Scholes.
