WOODMANSTERNE grabbed their second win in a row with a triumph over Newdigate on Saturday.
The match start was delayed by over an hour due to heavy showers, leaving Newdigate, who were put into bat, with a maximum of 41 overs to bat.
They were restricted to a slow start, with Alex Squires bowling impressively, swinging the ball at pace to claim the wickets of Wickremansinghe and Callcut.
However, the key introduction was spinner Hyatt, who came on first change to bowl 16 overs at less than three an over, giving the batsmen few opportunities to score.
Hyatt took three wickets, but it was fellow spinner Rushi Deshmukh who wiped up the tail to take 4-22 as Newdigate were bowled out for 128.
Woods had just 32 overs to respond, and struggled early against tight bowling from Crook and Cooper.
With overs running out, Woods looked to accelerate, and wickets began to fall.
Woods were left with five wickets in hand, needing 22 from the last three overs.
Deshmukh, ably supported by Neil Patel, stepped up to the plate, smashing 14 runs off six balls including a huge six over mid-wicket.
Off the first ball of the last over, Patel cut Wickremasinghe to the point boundary to hand Woods a five-wicket victory that takes them to fourth in the league.
