TALENTED pupils from Redhill and Reigate joined together to deliver a concert performance of Happy by Pharrell Williams.
More than 100 children from seven schools across the two towns met at the Royal Alexandra and Albert School, in Gatton Park, for an orchestra workshop, which culminated in a concert for parents inside the school's chapel.
The pupils, aged between 6 and 13, came from the Warwick School, Reigate School, Reigate Priory School, Sandcross School, Holmesdale Community Infant School, St Joseph's School, and The Royal Alexandra and Albert.
The young performers played a variety of instruments including the recorder and saxophone.
Director of music at the Royal Alexandra and Albert School, Alison Butler, said: "The aim of this workshop was to give pupils an idea of what it is like to be part of an ensemble. This sort of opportunity is difficult to provide within one school, so it has been fantastic to bring so many musicians together in our school chapel to perform as a group.
"It has been an exhilarating experience for the children and we hope they will make the most of the opportunities on offer from Surrey Arts – for example, by joining one of their ensembles."
The pupils had spent the last four weeks practising the music at their own school before, during the workshop on June 10, fine-tuning their performance as a group.
In the evening, the wind ensemble performed some catchy tunes, before the string ensemble performed a variety of pieces, including an extract from Handel's Water Music.
Finally the two ensembles combined to create a full orchestra and gave a rousing performance of Happy by Pharrell Williams.
