Police appeal after goat found hanging at Surrey farm

SURREY Police is appealing for witnesses after a goat was found hanging dead at a farm in Byfleet.

Officers were called to the farm off Murray's Lane on Sunday June 22 after the owner discovered the rare breed goat had been hung inside one of his animal sheds.

It is believed the goat had been alive when it was hung using rope, which was attached to a beam in the shed.

t is thought to have happened overnight between 8.30pm on Saturday June 21 and 10.05am on Sunday June 22.

There was also a break-in to another shed on the same farm. Items of property and teh building were damaged when offenders tried to break in. This incident took place between 9pm on Sunday June 22 and 4.30pm on Monday June 23.

Investigating officer PC Erin Anderson said: "This incident has been particularly distressing for the owner and I would appeal for anyone who knows why this might have occurred or know who was involved to get in touch. It is appalling that someone could do something like this to a defenceless animal."
