Torrential rain is on the way to Surrey, the Met Office has warned.
It has issued a Severe Weather Warning for Thursday and Friday for much of eastern England, with the area likely to be saturated by short bursts.
The risk of localised flooding is possible any time between 6am tomorrow and 9am Friday.
A Met Office spokesman said: "We warn the public and emergency responders of severe or hazardous weather which has the potential to cause danger to life or widespread disruption.
"Outbreaks of rain will become heavy at times through Thursday and Thursday night.
"The public should be aware of the risk of local disruption to transport and outdoor events during Thursday and Thursday night."
