KIND-HEARTED shoppers have given generously to Caterham Foodbank.
An appeal at Tesco's store in Guards Avenue from last Thursday to Saturday resulted in hundreds of food items being donated, filling more than 70 boxes. Pupils from Warlingham School helped with the collection on Friday.
The goodies – including long-life milk, cereal, tinned food and tea bags – will be divided up into emergency parcels containing three days' supply of nutritionally balanced food.
It will be distributed to local people in need who may have been referred to Caterham Foodbank by a health visitor or a social worker.
More than 200 people in the Caterham area have been given emergency food supplies over the past six months.
