A HEAD teacher who helped to turn around a once-struggling school is leaving this month.
Liz Wombwell will leave St John's Primary School in Markfield Road, Caterham, for a new headship in West Sussex.
She said: "I will miss everyone in the St John's team who has worked really well together and seen the school change over the five-and-a-half years I have been head teacher."
Her deputy, Alister Moses, will serve as acting head teacher until a replacement is appointed.
Mrs Wombwell took charge in February 2009, having previously been head at Reigate Parish Church School.
Under her guidance St John's had turned round from "significantly underachieving" to a "good" school, as graded by Ofsted.
