POLICE are appealing for witnesses who may have a seen a stolen puppy being left in Bletchingley.
The six-month-old Saluki puppy was stolen from a home in Crawley Road, Horsham, during a burglary on July 17.
The victim put a plea on Facebook for her missing dog.
It was later found running in a road in Bletchingley, by Tilburstow Hill Road, between the junctions with Harts Lane and Lambs Business Park, at about 5.45pm on July 18.
A woman saw the dog and recognised it from the Facebook picture. She contacted the owners and returned it to them.
Detective Constable Stuart Streeter said: "We are appealing for any witnesses who may have seen this dog being dumped or set free in this area.
"It is a rural area however it does appear there are some premises set back into the surrounding fields as well as some business premises."
A 20-year-old man from Redhill, Surrey, has been arrested on suspicion of burglary, questioned and bailed until August 26.
