Three teenagers arrested following aggravated burglary in Earlswood

THREE teenage boys have been arrested on suspicion of aggravated burglary following an incident in Earlswood last night (Friday).

Officers were called to the Hooley Lane area at around 11pm following a report of several men trying to break in to a house. 

No one was injured during the incident although the victim, a man in his 20s, was left shaken following the ordeal.

The police helicopter was scrambled from its Redhill base to assist officers on the ground with the search for those involved.

Three men were arrested nearby a short time later.

Investigating officer Detective Constable Laura Chambers said: "This was an extremely frightening ordeal for the victim and also nearby residents who saw many police units descend on the area to search for those involved.

"This morning officers will be in the area carrying out a number of enquiries to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident.

"Being a victim of aggravated burglary is a terrifying experience for anyone and the man involved in this case will be fully supported throughout the investigation.

"I would like to thank the local community for their patience and assistance throughout this incident and hope the arrest of three men goes some way to reassure them."

The arrested boys, one aged 17 and two aged 13 remain in police custody.
