SOAP star Shane Richie joined former mariners and schoolchildren at a Banstead care home for its second annual open day.
The actor joined in an afternoon of nautical-themed activities, including a shanty sing-along, at The Royal Alfred Seafarers' Society home.
Mr Richie was also given a tour of the facilities and heard residents' memories during the event, which marked Seafarers' Awareness Week.
Deputy Lord Lieutenant of Surrey Susan Lochner JP DL, chairman of the society Captain Duncan Glass, and trustees helped celebrate the occasion, and children at Woodmansterne Primary School visited residents during the afternoon and took part in a sing-along.
The EastEnders star and singer was the society's special guest and shared a few drinks with the residents.
He said: "The Royal Alfred Seafarers' Society is such a big part of the local community and I really wanted to make time to come and see the residents.
"Meeting them has been lovely and it's been great to hear all their stories. The carers' dedication to the residents is absolutely incredible."
Royal Alfred Seafarers' Society chief executive, Commander Brian Boxall-Hunt, said: "This was our second annual open day to mark Seafarers Awareness Week and we really enjoyed sharing the day with all who attended. Our seafarers have done their bit for the country, now it's our turn to help them."
